Segundo and Marcela live with their two teenage children in a rural community where they own their land and are supported by close family networks. They make their living through beekeeping, producing and selling items like hives and boxes, and were able to save a key machine from a recent fire. Marcela is also rebuilding her greenhouse, which supports both their family’s needs and provides income. Through the project, they received support to complete a shed for storing tools and working with the hives, as well as to finish the lining of part of their home, helping them restore stability and continue building their livelihood.

This project supported families affected by the severe fires in Chile during January and February 2023, focusing on those with serious or partial home damage, including vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly, to help them recover and rebuild their homes and lives.

BWAid in 2024 assisted 11 countries across Africa and Asia, which were severely impacted by heavy rains and flooding.  Approximately 9,000 people were provided with critical support to meet their immediate needs, including food and non-food items (NFIs) – shelter and hygiene supplies.
