Standing with Venezuela

Responding in the Wake of Double Earthquakes

On June 24, powerful 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes struck Venezuela, the strongest seismic event to affect the nation in more than a century. Almost 1,000 people are reported dead, thousands more are injured, and close to 50,000 persons are still missing. We are partnering with our local BWA member partner, the National Baptist Convention of Venezuela, as they seek to be the hands and feet of Christ at this critical time.

Supporting the Local Response

In this initial phase of response, leaders from our Venezuelan Baptist convention partner are providing urgent relief to families most affected by the earthquakes, including clean water, food, and essential medicines. These efforts are already underway in Caracas and the La Guaira region, meeting immediate needs in communities they faithfully serve.

BWAid is providing an initial emergency grant to strengthen these local relief efforts and invites the global Baptist family to stand together in support. Your generous gift will help deliver life-sustaining assistance and bring hope to those facing the devastating impact of this disaster.

Standing Together in Prayer

Pray for Victims and Rescue Efforts
Ask God to protect affected families, guide rescuers to anyone who may be trapped, and bring healing and comfort to those who have been injured.

Pray for Emergency Personnel
Lift up firefighters, paramedics, and Civil Protection officials, asking God to grant them wisdom, provision, endurance, and strength as they serve in the midst of crisis.

Pray for Peace Amid Uncertainty
Pray for the many citizens spending the night outdoors due to fear of aftershocks. Ask God to calm anxious hearts and for the swift restoration of essential public services.

As we pray, we hold fast to the promise of Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
