BWAid Projects
In the last quinquennium (2020-2025) BWAID supported 320 projects across 91 countries. Each year, our programs have responded to the evolving challenges faced by communities, from hunger and health crises to wars and the profound need for sustainable development initiatives. Our efforts have reached nearly 1.94 million individuals worldwide.
Sixty-two percent of our projects addressed urgent needs for food security, health resources and non-food items, while 38% of the projects are development initiatives focused on agriculture, capacity building, education, youth empowerment, and climate resilience. Responding Today
Through your partnership in prayer and giving, Baptist World Aid is responding with aid and relief to urgent needs in the world today.
Disaster Response
BWAid partners with BWA member partners to respond to emergent crises. This may involve a grant to the member convention in the disaster area for basic food, NFI, medical needs, and short-term recovery. It may also include brokering relationships with Baptist and/or other NGOs for resources, providing project management support and in the rare instance, BWAID staff will work with a partner in direct implementation. Our goal is always to support the local convention in providing immediate and effective assistance to their communities.
Development
BWAid partners are eligible to apply for Development Grants, which support initiatives aimed at addressing the underlying causes of vulnerability, fostering sustainable development, strengthening local capacity, and empowering communities. Priority funding areas include education, climate resilience, agriculture, and health. Preference is given to projects that improve the well-being of women and children. In alignment with its mission to serve the most vulnerable, BWAid strategically invests in programs located in countries on the Baptist Vulnerability Index.
Capacity Strengthening
BWAID is committed to strengthening the capacity of our Baptist conventions and churches to address vulnerability within their context. We co-design trainings with partners that integrate local expertise and international instructors. BWAid has also developed training modules that may be completed in-person or online. Conventions that receive grants are invited to participate in Grantee Share Tables to learn and collaborate with other similarly situated partners.
Creation of Justice
BWAid is committed to raising awareness and improving climate resiliency, particularly in under-resourced communities. We support initiatives that promote understanding of climate issues and promote climate resilience. For many of our partners, agricultural projects that incorporate training in sustainable practices represent a critical first step toward long-term environmental and community sustainability.
