In collaboration with Hungarian Baptist Aid, BWAid held the International Humanitarian Action and Development course from July 5–7, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria, training 69 delegates from 19 African countries during the 2024 BWA Annual Gathering. This intensive event equipped participants with knowledge in humanitarian crises, disaster response, project management, accountability standards, and sustainable development, with a focus on African environmental and agricultural contexts. In partnership with Truett and Buckner, certificates and continuing education units were awarded. The course concluded with group project presentations, from which two winning teams emerged to implement a relief and community capacity-building project.
“This Humanitarian Action Course is about joining our African brothers and sisters and, together, approaching humanitarian aid on one hand according to the calling of God and with expertise,”
Bela Szilágyi, course faculty and president of Hungarian Baptist Aid
“I gained new tools and information that have already helped my Convention. I felt I got a lot out of the training; I truly appreciated it. It was very useful and informative. I thought it was good for us as church leaders to look at another way of doing things. I enjoyed this course! We are having the training to share what I learned from the Humanitarian Training in Nigeria.”
