During the Convención Nacional de Iglesias Bautistas de Honduras (CONIBAH) Annual Assembly, BWAid Program Manager Claudia Escobar made a follow-up visit to the plantain project in Soberanos del Rey, El Progreso, Yoro, where 14 families each received 1,000 plantain seeds. A meeting with Pastor Edwing Fajardo and beneficiaries included a feedback session and a tour of the crops.
Despite challenges like drought and floods, all families continue with their plantations. Some have begun selling plantains – up to 2,000 in local markets – while others expanded into crops like cassava and lemons. Five new families joined through seed-sharing, and the community is now exploring a packaged plantain product for supermarkets.
